R3303-HP 6600/HSR6600 Routers IP Multicast Configuration Guide

NOTE:
The reset igmp-snooping group command takes effect only in IGMP snooping-enabled VLANs but not in
V
LANs with IGMP-enabled VLAN interfaces. This command cannot remove the static group entries for
IGMP snooping groups.
IGMP snooping configuration examples
This section provides examples of configuring IGMP snooping.

Network requirements
As shown in Figure 14, IGMPv2 runs on Router A, IGMPv2 snooping runs on Router B, and Router A acts
as the IGMP querier on the subnet. Router B is an 6600/HSR6600 router.
The receivers, Host A and Host B can receive multicast traffic addressed to multicast group 224.1.1.1 only.
Multicast data for group 224.1.1.1 can be forwarded through GigabitEthernet 2/0/3 and
GigabitEthernet 2/0/4 of Router B even if Host A and Host B accidentally, temporarily stop receiving
multicast data. Router B drops unknown multicast data and does not broadcast the data to the VLAN
where Router B resides.

Configuration procedure
1. Assign an IP address and subnet mask to each interface according to Figure 14. (Details not
shown.)
2. On Router A, enable IP multicast routing, enable PIM-DM on each interface, and enable IGMP on
Ethernet 1/1.
