1. A CE1 interface in E1 mode provides 2.048 Mbps data bandwidth and cannot be divided into

timeslots. It has the same logical features as the synchronous serial interface. It supports link layer

protocols such as PPP and FR and the network protocol IP.

2. A CE1 interface in CE1 mode is physically divided into 32 timeslots numbered 0 to 31. Timeslot

0 is used to transmit synchronizing information. All the other timeslots can be randomly bundled

into multiple channel sets and each set can be used as an interface upon timeslot bundling. Its

logical features are the same as those of a synchronous serial interface. It supports link layer

protocols such as PPP, HDLC, and FR, and network protocol IP.

• Parameters of data link protocol such as PPP and FR

• IP addressing
