5 Configuration management

APM provides the following additional configuration management functions:

 Threshold Management—Sets threshold conditions for the monitoring application indexes. If the

collected indexes meet the threshold, APM sends a corresponding alarm through the Alarm module

of the IMC Platform.

 Port Configuration—Sets default application monitor and traffic collection ports for applications.

Through ports, APM can identify different applications in Auto Discovery and traffic collection.

 Probe Configuration—Manages a list of probes, with which APM collects network traffic for various

applications.

 Parameter Configuration—Sets APM system parameters, including the monitor data retention

periods and data background colors.

Threshold Management

Application monitor thresholds can be global or custom, depending on the effective range. By default,

applications use global thresholds. Operators can configure custom thresholds to use in application

monitor reports.

A global threshold applies to a specific application type. The default value is disabled. All global

thresholds are managed in Threshold Management of APM, and they can be further classified into

predefined global thresholds and user-defined global thresholds.

Custom thresholds are used to monitor a single application. With custom thresholds, applications of the

same type can use different thresholds. You can set and adjust a custom threshold in the application

monitor report or custom monitor report.

Viewing or filtering the Global Threshold List

To view or filter the global threshold list:

1. Click the Resource tab.

2. Select Application Manager > Configurations from the navigation tree.

The Configurations page appears.

3. Click Threshold Configuration.

The Global Threshold List appears, including various application categories and types for filtering.

4. Click a name next to Application Category to filter global thresholds for the monitor indexes of that

application category.

The Application Type field also refreshes.

5. Click a name next to Application Type to filter global thresholds for the monitor indexes of that

application type.

6. To view the complete global threshold list, click Unlimited next to Application Category and

Application Type, respectively.
