Overview APM is an application monitor management solution for monitoring applications in enterprises. It was developed based on the IMC Platform. APM agent is an application installed on a host running on Windows or Linux. It provides an interface to assist APM in collecting index data of applications on the host.

Installing and removing an APM agent An APM agent can be installed remotely and locally. Remote installation—APM sends the agent installation package to hosts. The APM agent is installed automatically on the hosts. Local installation—Perform the following tasks: a. Download the agent installation package to the local directory. b. Copy the installation package to the target host by using FTP, file sharing, or SCP. c. Manually install the APM agent on the target host.
Destination Host IP—Enter the IP address of the destination host and click Add. The IP address is added to the Host List area. Host List—Displays the hosts on which the APM agent is remotely installed. To remove an IP address from the Host List area, select the IP address and click Delete. Host Type—Select a host type, Windows or Linux. Installation Path—Enter the absolute agent installation path.
5. Copy the installation package to the destination host by using FTP, file sharing, or SCP, and decompress it. 6. Double-click the install.bat script and enter the IP address of the server where IMC is deployed as prompted, as shown in Figure 3. Figure 7 Executing the installation script Removing an APM agent To remove an APM agent, execute the uninstall.bat script in the agent installation path on Windows or the uninstall.sh script in the agent installation path on Linux.
Manually starting and stopping an APM agent An APM agent automatically starts and stops when the OS starts and stops. You can manually start and stop the APM agent. Manually starting an APM agent on Windows 1. Enter the \windows\Agent\apm_agent_update\bin directory of the agent installation path. 2. Execute the startup.bat script. 3. In Task Manager, check whether the imcApmAgent.exe and imcApmAgentMain.exe processes exist. 4. If imcApmAgentMain.

FAQs If APM runs on Linux, the APM agent fails to be remotely installed on a host running Windows. How do I resolve this problem? This problem occurs because Samba is disabled on Linux. To resolve this problem: 1. 2.
