HP Intelligent Management Center v7.0 VAN Fabric Manager Administrator Guide

1. In the VSAN list, click Add.
The Add VSAN page appears. There are two areas on the page, the Basic VSAN Information
area and the VFC interface list area.
2. In the Basic VSAN Information area, specify the following parameters:
VSAN Name—Enter a VSAN name. The name must be unique in the fabric to which the
VSAN is added.
VSAN ID—Enter a VSAN ID. The ID must unique in the fabric to which the VSAN is added.
VLAN ID—Enter the ID of the VLAN to be mapped to the VSAN. VLAN 1 cannot be
mapped to any VSAN. A VSAN can only map to one VLAN.
Description—Enter a description for the VSAN. Detailed descriptions facilitate VSAN
management.
3. In the VFC interface list area, click Select Port.
4. Select the target VFC interfaces for the VSAN by view or advanced query.
For more information, see "Importing devices."
The Select Port window only displays interfaces of FCoE switches that were imported to the
fabric to which the VSAN is added.
NOTE: VFM automatically sets up a VSAN for the switch to which the selected interface
belongs. If no interface on the switch is in the added VSAN, VFM does not create a VSAN
for the switch.
5. Click OK.
Step 6 through step 8 are optional.
6. From the VFC interface list, select the target interfaces.
7. Click Delete.
A confirmation dialog box appears.
8. Click OK.
9. On the Add VSAN page, click OK.
Deleting VSANs
VSAN 1 is created by the system and cannot be deleted by the administrator.
To delete a VSAN:
1. From the VSAN list, select one or more VSANs.
2. Click Delete.
A confirmation dialog box appears.
3. Click OK.
Synchronizing VSANs
VFM does not support direct VSANs synchronization.
When you synchronize an FCoE switch, the VSAN configurations saved by the switch are
automatically synchronized to VFM. After the synchronization is complete, VFM replicates the
VSAN configurations on the FCoE switch or replace the VSAN configurations in VFM with those
on the switch. The copy of VSAN configurations on the FCoE switch is used when you modify
VSAN-VLAN mappings.
