Rules for synchronizing VSAN configurations on an FCoE switch to VFM:
• If a VSAN ID exists in both VFM and the FCoE switch, the VSAN configurations in VFM changes
by the following rules:
◦ VSAN ID—Cannot be changed.
◦ VSAN Name—Cannot be changed.
◦ VLAN ID—There are two VLAN IDs, one represents the VSAN-VLAN mapping on the
FCoE switch, and the other represents the VSAN-VLAN mapping in VFM.
◦ VFC interfaces—Display the combination of VFC interfaces saved by VFM and the FCoE
switch.
• If a VSAN ID is saved only by the FCoE switch, VFM adds a new VSAN. The configurations
of the new VSAN in VFM are as follows:
◦ VSAN ID—Same as the VSAN ID on the FCoE switch.
◦ VSAN Name—Same as the VSAN ID.
◦ VLAN ID—If the VLAN with the VSAN ID is not mapped to a VSAN, the VLAN ID in VFM
is the same as the VSAN ID. If the VLAN with the VSAN ID is mapped to another VSAN,
VFM automatically selects an unmapped VLAN ID.
◦ VFC interfaces—VFC interfaces saved on the FCoE switch.
Modifying a VSAN-VLAN mapping
This function allows you to modify VSAN-VLAN mappings on all FCoE switches within one VSAN.
To ensure communication within the VSAN, the VSAN-VLAN mappings on the FCoE switches must
be consistent with the VSAN-VLAN mappings in VFM.
To modify a VSAN-VLAN mapping in VFM:
1. In the VSAN list, click the VLAN ID for the target VSAN.
The VSAN-VLAN Mapping area displays the VSAN-VLAN mappings in VFM.
The FCoE switch list area displays the VSAN-VLAN mappings on all FCoE switches of the
VSAN. If the mapping on a switch is the same as the mapping in VFM, the VLAN ID switch
is blue. If the two mappings are different, the VLAN ID switch is red.
2. In the VSAN-VLAN Mapping area, click the Modify icon next to the VLAN ID.
3. Enter a VLAN ID that is not mapped to a VSAN.
4. Click OK.
To synchronize a VFM VSAN-VLAN mapping to all FCoE switches, you can use one of the following
methods:
• Modify VSAN-VLAN mappings on single FCoE switches:
1. In the FCoE switch list, click the Modify icon for the target FCoE switch.
2. Enter the VLAN ID displayed in the VSAN-VLAN Mapping area.
3. Click OK.
• Synchronize VSAN-VLAN mappings on all FCoE switches:
1. In the FCoE switch list, click Synchronize to All.
A confirmation dialog box appears.
