HP Intelligent Management Center v7.0 VAN Fabric Manager Administrator Guide

1. In global zone configuration, select a switch from the VSAN as the zone management switch.
For more information, see "Configuring global zone parameters."
2. In global zone configuration, configure global zone policies, including the default zone policy
and the zone distribution policy. For more information, see "Configuring global zone
parameters."
3. Configure zone sets, zones, zone members, and zone aliases. For more information, see
"Managing zone sets," "Managing zones," "Managing zone members," and "Managing
zone aliases."
4. In zone set management, activate a zone set and distribute the active zone set or the zone
database in the VSAN. The zone distribution policy determines the distribution mode.
5. Manage the zone database:
In zone set management, activate a new zone set.
In global zone configuration, deactivate the active zone set.
In global zone configuration, configure the system to distribute the modified zone database
in the VSAN.
In global zone configuration, delete the zone database from the VSAN.
VFM zone configurations synchronized to FCoE switches
When you perform the following operations, VFM automatically synchronize the configurations to
all FCoE switches in a VSAN:
Add, modify, copy, and delete zone sets.
Add zones to a zone set and delete zones from a zone set.
Add, modify, copy, and delete zones.
Add zone members or zone aliases to a zone and delete zone members or zone aliases from
a zone.
Add, modify, copy, and delete zone aliases.
Add zone members to a zone alias and delete zone members from a zone alias.
Active zone set
When you activate a zone set, VFM creates a copy of the zone set at the time of activation. This
copy is known as the active zone set. Modifications to the zone set do not take effect on the copy
until the copy is activated again. When you delete the zone set, the copy is not affected. Figure 13
shows the relationship between the active zone set and full zone sets.
