HP Insight Control Virtual Machine Management 6.2 User Guide

VMotion fails because virtual machine host names are mismatched in Systems Insight
Manager and vCenter Server
Performing a VMotion can fail when Systems Insight Manager and vCenter Server discovers the virtual
machine host name with different capitalization. When the migration is performed the following error appears:
No, Live Move is not enabled. Stop the VM to enable other move options.
To resolve this issue, be sure both virtual machine hosts have the same name using the same capitalization.
This is a known issue with VMware vCenter Server 1.3. Mismatched virtual machine host entries do not exist
when using VMware vCenter Server 2.

Virtual machine host experiences extremely slow response time
If the virtual machine host on VMware ESX Servers is experiencing an extremely slow response time, then
increase the processor or memory resources for the operating system.
For more information on increasing operating system resources, see the VMware ESX Server manual at
http://www.vmware.com.
Insight Control virtual machine management demo licensing
A virtual machine host does not use a demo key if a purchased virtual machine management license key is
present.
If the same backup is restored multiple times, then the Restore Virtual Machine from
backup operation fails
If the same backup is restored multiple times to different locations on the same virtual machine host, the
Restore Virtual Machine from Backup operation might fail. To resolve this issue, before selecting Restore
Virtual Machine from Backup function from the Systems Insight Manager toolbar, unregister or delete the
virtual machine guest that was restored earlier using the same backup from the virtual machine host.
Recovery of virtual machine fails with incompatible hardware configurations
The hardware and configuration of an alternate virtual machine host must be compatible with a virtual
machine to be recovered. If the alternate host hardware or configuration is not compatible, then you can
reconfigure the virtual machine after the Recover Virtual Machines of Failed Host operation has been
performed.
An error occurs when you click Remote Desktop
When you click Remote Desktop in the HP SIM Host System page using Internet Explorer browser, the
following error might appear:
Internet Explorer cannot download e.rdp?hostname=<host IP> from <host>.
Displaying Remote Desktop for the virtual machine requires the file remote.rdp to be downloaded. If the
Internet options are set to disable download of files, then this error occurs.
To resolve this issue:
1. From the Internet Explorer browser, select ToolsInternet OptionsAdvanced.
2. Clear the Do not save encrypted pages to disk option.
3. Click Apply.
Insight Control virtual machine management functions
Stop VM task does not perform as expected on Xen on RHEL 5.4 x86 virtual machine
hosts
On a Xen on RHEL 5.4 x86 virtual-machine host, a Stop operation perfomed on a Microsoft Windows virtual
machine guest, may not succeed. In such a case, virtual machine management would display a timed-out
message and would not indicate a failure.
