HP Insight Control Server Provisioning 7.3 Update 1 Administrator Guide

4 Managing user accounts
User login accounts on the Insight Control server provisioning appliance must be assigned a role.
The role determines what the user account has permission to view and do. For instance, a Server
administrator cannot edit an OS Build Plan. See “Specifying user accounts and roles” (page 63)
for a description of the different user roles in Insight Control server provisioning.
User refers to a regular IC server provisioning user. It is distinct from the “MatrixUser, which refers
to a special Matrix Operating Environment service account that is used with the IC server
provisioning deployment engine. See “Matrix OE integration” (page 43) for more information.
For information on how to add, delete, and edit user accounts, see the Insight Control server
provisioning online help.
You can use an external authentication directory service (also called an enterprise directory or
authentication login domain) to provide a single sign-on for groups of users instead of maintaining
individual local login accounts. An example of an authentication directory service is a corporate
directory that uses LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol). Any user in the group can log in
to the appliance, and each member of the group is assigned the same role. See the online help
for more information about directory service authentication.
