Removing and Replacing Server Blade Blanks
Server blade blanks are used to fill empty slots in the server blade enclosure. Running an enclosure without a
server blade or blade blank installed results in improper airflow, which leads to thermal damage.
Removing a Server Blade Blank
To remove a server blade blank, perform the following steps:
Step 1. Press the release buttons simultaneously (1). Refer to Figure 4-10.
Step 2. Slide the server blade from the server blade enclosure (2).

CAUTION Always populate server blade enclosure bays with either a server blade or server blade blank.
Operating the enclosure without a server blade or server blade blank results in improper
airflow, which leads to thermal damage.
Replace a Server Blade Blank
To replace a server blade blank, perform the following steps:
Step 1. Align the blank with the empty bay.
Step 2. Slide the blank in until it is fully seated.
