Replacing a Hot-Plug SCSI Hard Drive
To replace a hot-plug SCSI hard drive, perform the following steps:
Step 1. Slide the drive into the cage until it is fully seated.
Step 2. Close the lever to lock the drive into place.
Removing and Replacing Hard Drive Blanks
The server blade has two hard drive bays. If you only purchased one hard drive, your server blade has a hard
drive blank installed. Hard drive blanks are used to maintain proper airflow throughout the server blade.
CAUTION Always populate hard drive bays with either a hot-plug SCSI hard drive or a hard drive blank.
Operating the server blade without a hot-plug SCSI hard drive or hard drive blank results in
improper airflow, which leads to thermal damage.
Removing a Hard Drive Blank
To remove a hard drive blank, perform the following steps:
Step 1. Press the release buttons simultaneously (1). Refer to Figure 4-4.
Step 2. Pull the blank out of the drive bay (2).

Replacing a Hard Drive Blank
To replace the hard drive blank, slide the blank into the bay until it locks into place. The hard drive blank is
keyed to fit only one way.
