Connect.

The following configuration guidelines help identify supported configurations:
• In all Virtual Connect configurations, a for HP Integrity BL8x0c i2 Series Server Blades must be
installed in interconnect bay 1. The embedded Virtual Connect Manager typically operates on this
module.
• To support high availability of the Virtual Connect environment, HP recommends that for HP Integrity
BL8x0c i2 Series Server Bladess be used in interconnect bays 1 and 2. The embedded Virtual
Connect Manager operates in an active/standby configuration. For more information, see "Failover
and check-pointing (on page 63)."
IMPORTANT: In multi-enclosure configurations, the HP 1/10 Gb VC-Enet Module is not
supported in bay 1 or bay 2 of the primary enclosure. The HP 1/10 Gb VC-Enet Module is
supported in bays 3 -8 of the primary enclosure, and in all bays of a remote enclosure.
• for HP Integrity BL8x0c i2 Series Server Bladess are used typically in pairs to provide access to all
Ethernet controllers on the server blade.
• The specific interconnect bays with Ethernet connectivity, other than bays 1 and 2, depend on
mezzanine card locations within the server blade.
• If a for HP Integrity BL8x0c i2 Series Server Blades is installed in an interconnect bay, the only
module that can be installed in the horizontally adjacent bay is another for HP Integrity BL8x0c i2
Series Server Blades of the same type.
• If an HP VC-FC module is installed in an interconnect bay, the only module that can be installed in
the horizontally adjacent bay is another VC-FC module.
• For c3000 enclosures, when two Fibre Channel mezzanine cards are installed in slots 2 and 3 of a
full-height server blade, the VC Manager only creates Fibre Channel connections and assigns
