e. Install the Upgrade Blade Link.
NOTE: System Information such as UUID, Serial Number, Product Name, and Product
Number are exchanged between the Upgrade Blade Link and the system being upgraded.
The resulting system retains the original UUID and Serial Number, but reports a Product
Name and Number reflecting the new server.
f. The Upgrade Blade Link contains a label with a removable new Product Name and barcode
sections for the upgraded server. Remove the label carrier card from the trap door of the Blade
Link on the server blade you will be upgrading, then apply the labels from the Upgrade Blade
Link.
The label carrier card is placed behind the trap door of the Upgrade Blade Link.
g. Remove the “Field Upgrade Only” label is form the Upgrade Blade Link.
3. Final Check
a. Perform a final check of the upgraded server firmware to make sure that new blades added have
firmware consistent with the original system.
b. If VC is being used, assign the VC server profile.
c. The Operating Environment may need to be reinstalled as part of the upgrade. See the Upgrades
section of the HP Integrity BL860c i2, BL870c i2 & BL890c i2 Server Blade User Service Guide
for a detailed list of configuration requirements.
d. The Operating Environment license must be upgraded, if required, and applied to the upgraded
server.
4. Warranty Registration
• Make arrangements for the Warranty and Support Plan to be moved to the upgraded server blade.
See the “Warranty” (page 4) section of this document for more information.
