Plug the power cord into the appropriate receptacle on the rear of the chassis to achieve the
standby power state; the front panel Power button is not turned on. Full power occurs when the
power cord is plugged into the appropriate receptacle, and the Power button is activated. In the
off state, the power cords are not plugged in.
Table 1-3 lists the server power states.

Connecting Power Cables and Console Cables
IMPORTANT: HP recommends that a dc electrician should be involved in this procedure.
The following procedure describes how to connect the following:
• dc power supply cables
• M Cable (DB 25)
• Core I/O cards
• RS-232 cable (female to female)
NOTE: The RS-232 cable is not supplied by HP.
1. Connect the dc power supply wires to the dc terminal block at the rear of the dc power
supply (Figure 1-27).
Connect both of the plus (+) terminals to return.
Connect both of the minus (-) terminals to -48V
