Power Off and Power On the Server
This section provides information on how to power off and power on the server.
Power States
The server has three power states: standby power, full power, and off. You must plug the power
cord into a receptacle to achieve the standby power state; the front panel Power button is not
activated. Full power occurs when the power cord is plugged into a receptacle, and the Power
button is activated. In the off state, the power cords are not plugged in. The following table
describes the server power states:

Power Off the Server
The following procedure describes how to power off the server.
1. Gracefully shut down your operating system. For more information, see the operating system
documentation.
2. To power off the server, press the Power button.
3. Unplug the power cord.
Power On the Server
The following procedure describes how to power on the server.
1. Plug in the power cord.
2. To start the server, press the Power button.
3. Start your operating system.
