Asynchronous Terminals and Printer Processes Programming Manual

SECTION 7
PRINTER PROGRAMMING CONSIDERATIONS
This section contains a comparison of the features of the
different printers and programming considerations for controlling
the movement of forms through them. It also includes information
on modem connections and some error handling techniques.
For information on escape sequences and other programming re- |
quirements for supported printers, refer to the following |

NOTE |
|
Application programs using 5520, 5530, and 5540/5541 print- |
ers should not issue escape sequences; the I/O process |
translates commands sent by the application program into |
the appropriate escape sequences recognized by the printer. |
However, application programs using 5573 printers, 5512 |
printers designed to replace 5520 printers, or 5515/5516 |
printers can issue escape sequences. |
