Step Description

Log-in the BackPak UI, go to the Configuration, VTC page.
Select the VTC
Switch to the configuration Edit mode
Select the Refresh tab, select the Guardian node and click the
Refresh button; the response time might reach near a minute.
The already configured drives will be updated to LTO4 and VLE.
Save the configuration
The resulting BackPak UI should show the VLE indication on the updated drives:
Replacement of FC HBA card emulating LTO 4
Should a FC HBA card in a VTC fail, it may need to be replaced. Replacing the HBA
will have, for the CLIM that it is connected to, the same functional impact as
replacing a group of tape drives with new ones. All virtual LTO 4 tape drives
emulated using the new HBA will be seen has different tape drives by the CLIM. Also,
those tape drives will not by default be managed by VLE for encryption, even if the
prior tape drives were all set to encrypt or decrypt data.
Some pre- and post-card-replacement actions will be needed to achieve this task.
IMPORTANT: Before replacing the HBA you should:
This activity requires a local system user member of the SAFEGUARD
encryption officer group.
In SCF, perform the following actions on the affected (i.e. associated with the FC
ports of the failed FC HBA) LTO 4 tape drives individually or using pattern process
name (only for virtual tape drives connected to port that needs to be replaced):
