BBRESTORE
BBRESTORE sends the restore request to the controller and waits up to the timeout
value that the restore sub-script completes.
In a given queue, the script controller will process the requests in FIFO sequence,
until the parameter BBOX_SCRIPT_SORT_MAX_DELAY number-of-minutes is
specified. This parameter makes the files be restored in the same sequence they
were backed up, in order to minimize the repositioning on the physical media.
Restoring the files in the sequence they were backed-up can be very inefficient for
unrelated and concurrent restore requests. This is why the scope of this special
requests sort order is limited by “BBOX_SCRIPT_SORT_MAX_DELAY number-of-
minutes”. Only recent requests, requests initiated in the last number-of-minutes, will
be sorted by backup time.
If the variables % BBOX_SCRIPT_BK_SOFTWARE*% are set, the controller will query
the Enterprise Backup server to know the label of the physical media containing the
backup of files.
Then the controller will adjust the sequence of restores to minimize the media
unload/reloads. If several threads are configured, each thread will be specialized to
restore from a specific media label.
To check the success of a restore, the script controller does not test the return code
of the sub-script; it rather checks that the Windows files have been created.
