5063 Virtual Tape Device %1
DOWN
For the named virtual
device, the VTC
Emulator encountered
an error condition that
can not be recovered
without restarting the
virtual device. The host
will send a bus reset.
The tape applications
using any device on the
same bus will
abort. The host will
then try to reconnect to
all devices of the bus to
recover a normal state.
Resubmit the tape
applications.
If the message 5061
does not show for the
named device and the
NSK tape system
continues to report
error on the device,
STOP the device in
SCF. Then, reset the
VTC as soon as
possible depending on
the current work
schedule and the
performance of other
devices.
5064 Virtual Tape Device %1
REACTIVATED
The VTC emulator
received again SCSI
activity from the host,
for a device internally
deactivated because of
lack of SCSI activity.
Note: devices not
configured in domain
will rather be named by
internal ID, i.e.:
‘port FC-1 lun 3’
(Device unknown in
domain)
rather than:
\NODE1.$TAPE03
None.
5065 Virtual Tape Device %1
DEACTIVATED
The VTC emulator did
not received any
commands from the
host since 3 minutes.
It will reject load
commands from the
domain manager.
This EMS message is
most often followed by
an other EMS message
from the NSK tape
system reporting a tape
io error (timeout).
This state is not
harmful if the device is
not in use and not
needed.
Check the device was
re-activated later
(message 5064), or
check interactively by
SCF STATUS $drive.
The message 5064 can
show up several hours
later.
If the device stays
disconnected, then the
VTC must be reset.
