Recovery of encryption related errors
Several errors related to the encryption configuration might happen, at initial
installation or after numerous cases of changes or connection errors. The potential
errors are likely to be a discrepancy in encryption configurations or a failed
connection.
Before considering any configuration changes, it is suggested to:
1. Trigger the set of verifications of encryption connectivity and configuration
consistency in the BackPak UI.
In the BackPak UI, Configuration, Key Manager page, stay in browse mode.
Identify the Key Manager ID in the list, and the link Test.
Analyze the test report.
2. If the cause of error is not yet found and HP VLE is enabled on some or all virtual
tape drives in SCF:
2.1. Refresh the NonStop and CLIM configuration copied in the BackPak domain
configuration.
In the BackPak UI, Configuration tab, click on Switch to Edit mode
In the main page of each VTC: click on the link: Update devices based
on the probe result from the VTC and all hosts, and then on Update
button.
Click on Save.
2.2. Re-execute the Test Key Manager above in 1.
The source of error can be related to several platforms, depending on the nature of
client to the Key Manager:
- If HP VLE CLIM:
o NonStop host: SCF configuration for tape drives
o NonStop storage VLE CLIM: climcmd configuration, VLE configuration
o HP ESKM: configuration of the VLE CLIM clients
- If VTC client:
o VTC: Internal disk directory configuring it as a Key Manager client
o Key server (ESKM or other): configuration of the VTC clients
- In both cases:
o BackPak domain configuration: Data Store routes, Volume group, Key
Manager
