Virtual Tape Controller is the name of the log in the MS-Windows Event logging
The BackBox software writes to these Windows logs:
Log name Source
Virtual Tape Controller All Windows services,
except the Script Controller
VTC Script Controller Only the Script Controller
BackPakUiLog Only a GUI running locally,
can be found in a work-station.
The provided message Event number corresponds to the message numbers
documented in the next chapter of this manual.
Regular operations, such as tape load and unload are reported systematically.
Important messages such as errors and device starting and de-activation are logged
in MS-Windows and forwarded to the BackPak NonStop component for logging in
EMS.
As all MS-Windows Event logs, this log is managed by MS-Windows and old entries
deleted. Regular MS-Windows menus control the log management.
VTC log files
All logs are gathered in C:\ProgramData\ETINET\VTC\Log. This directory can be
opened by the Windows START button:
Several logs are internal and oriented to the Product Support.
BackBox users are more directly involved by the script logs located in the sub-
directories \Log\Script\<data-store-id>\
