Introduction
This guide documents the installation of the BackPak UI client on an operator
workstation or on a BackPak VTC server.
This manual applies to BackBox and BackLib products.
The main manual of each product is BackBox User Manual
and BackLib User Manual.
Product error messages are documented in the common BackPak Troubleshooting and
Messages Manual.
The UI Client application can be installed on the various Windows current operating
systems. For details about the product requirements, refer to the introduction in the
BackBox User Manual
, or to the dedicated booklet BackPak products requirements.
Installation steps
Two simple steps allow install the BackPak UI Client:
1. The installation of the Windows application itself
Optionally, the timeout of UI sessions initiated with the BackPak domain
manager can be adjusted.
Internet Explorer options must be revised.
2. For an initial installation on a machine,
the BackPak domain address must be registered.
o The domain address is a TCPIP address and port allowing to reach the
BackPak domain manager, as configured to the NonStop Guardian TCPIP
LISTNER in PORTCONF file.
o For the UI Client, this address is a kind of bookmark that simplifies the
login to the BackPak domain manager for configuration or operation.
o For the VTC, this address is required by the VTC to send internal events
to the BackPak domain manager. The Client UI must be installed in the
VTC.
o The domain address should be entered before the first execution of the UI
Client or the Windows services in the VTC.
o In both cases, operator workstation or VTC, several domains of the same
BackPak versions can be entered.
