BladeCluster Solution Manual

BladeCluster/Multi-Zone Solution
The BladeCluster/Multizone Solution offers short-haul and long-haul multi-zone topologies comprised
of multiple BladeCluster zones (up to 3 zones) interconnected as clusters of nodes (up to 24 nodes).
Each zone-to-zone connection is a ServerNet multi-lane link comprised of ServerNet 3 links (unless
configured for ServerNet 2 in interzone distances greater than 25 km) and each zone can contain
a different number of nodes.
Only the first node (either node 1, 9, or 17) in each zone is interconnected to the other zones and
is known as the anchor node. All anchor nodes must be a NonStop BladeSystem and must meet
“Software Requirements for the Current Release of BladeCluster” (page 22). Each anchor node
from each zone is interconnected and all interzone traffic flows through the anchor nodes. Adding
additional zones only requires reconfiguration of the anchor nodes.
Non-anchor nodes are nodes that do not occupy first node positions in a multi-zone BladeCluster
Solution topology and which are not directly connected to inter-zone links in the topology.
The Multi-Zone Short-Haul topology offers a maximum distance of 125 meters between zones.
The Multi-Zone Long-Haul topology offers distance options of either 25 km, 50 km, or 65 km. The
long-haul topology requires connecting a DWDM to each anchor node.
