2 Installation and Migration Tasks
Use this chapter to plan your BladeCluster topology and to migrate, install, and configure the nodes
in the topology. All required steps are detailed in the “Checklist of Installation and Migration Tasks
— Tasks 1 through 8” (page 28).

Checklist for Required Installation and Migration Tasks
NOTE: If you are upgrading to the current version of BladeCluster from a previous release, refer
to “Migrating from Previous Releases of the BladeCluster Solution” (page 23).
The “Checklist of Installation and Migration Tasks — Tasks 1 through 8” (page 28) describes the
required tasks for configuring a BladeCluster Solution topology such as installing or migrating a
BladeSystem or NonStop NS16000 series node, configuring a multi-zone topology, or migrating
or upgrading a 6700 series ServerNet Cluster to the BladeCluster topology. Complete this checklist
for every node that joins the BladeCluster topology.

Task 1: Configure the Nodes for Installation or Migration to the BladeCluster Solution
TIP:
• If you are adding several nodes to the BladeCluster, you can perform the steps in Task 1 over a period of time such
as several weeks or months.
• HP recommends that you subject newly installed links to forced test traffic (such as large FUP DUP file copies between
nodes) and then verify the EMS logs are error-free.

Verify the BladeCluster license file (T0988H01) is
present on every BladeSystem and NonStop
“Software Requirements for the Current Release of
BladeCluster” (page 22)
NS16000 series node to be added to the
BladeCluster Solution topology. The license file is in
either of these subvolumes:
• $SYSTEM.SYSTEM
• $SYSTEM.SYSnn
If there is no license file, order, and then copy this
file to either of the above subvolumes.
NOTE: Nodes that only connect to 6700 series
ServerNet cluster fabrics do not require a
BladeCluster license file.
