BladeCluster Solution Manual
Table 8 Checklist of Installation and Migration Tasks — Tasks 1 through 8 (continued)
For more information, see...Installation/Migration Tasks
Service providers, for ACH information refer to “Advanced
Cluster Hubs (ACHs)” (page 38).
If the BladeCluster zone requires installation of the
ACHs, only a service provider can install the hubs
on the rack rails.
Verify each node has the supported switches and
cables for BladeCluster connectivity:
• “Hardware Overview” (page 18)
• “Cables” (page 85)
• BladeSystem nodes — HP ServerNet switch for
BladeCluster: (two switches with fully-populated
optics are required per BladeSystem node).
NOTE: The ServerNet switches for BladeCluster
are typically installed in the first c7000 enclosure
of each BladeSystem. However, in multi-zone
topologies configured with high-availability
anchor nodes, the X and Y fabric ServerNet
switches are installed in the first (Group 100)
and second (Group 101) c7000 enclosures of
each BladeSystem anchor node.
• NonStop NS16000 series nodes — Processor
switch with supported quad MMF PICs installed
in slots 7 and 9: (two processor switches are
required per NonStop NS16000 series node).
TIP: The quad MMF PICs in slots 7 and 9 are
reserved for BladeCluster connectivity. If these
PICs are currently connected to IOAM enclosures
or CLuster I/O Modules (CLIMs), your service
provider must disconnect and reconnect the
IOAM enclosures and CLIMs to different p-switch
ports. Refer to the NonStop NS16000 Series
Planning Guide for instructions.
Service providers:If the BladeSystem or NonStop NS16000 series
nodes require the supported switch, only a service

provider can install this hardware. The installation
can be done one fabric at a time without requiring
a system load.
• For installation instructions for the quad MMF PICs in a
NonStop NS16000 series node, refer to the OSM
Replacing P-switch online help.
• For safety information related to hardware information,
refer to Safety Requirements for Service Providers
(page 92).
Service providers, for DWDM information refer to:If the BladeCluster zone requires installation and
connection of a DWDM, only a service provider
can install and connect this equipment.

Task 2: Plan Your Expand Nodes, Related Processes, and Expand-Over-ServerNet Lines
For more information, see...Installation/Migration Tasks
Check that all Expand nodes to be added have
unique system names and system numbers (also

known as Expand node numbers). Record these
names.
