BladeCluster Solution Manual
5 Connections to NonStop 6700 Series ServerNet Clusters
CAUTION:
All connections must be done under the guidance of the Add Node To ServerNet Cluster guided
procedure. Wait until the procedure prompts you to make the connections. If you are adding a
node to a BladeCluster/6700 Series Solution, you must make all connections to both types of
clusters before continuing with the procedure. For the connections to the Advanced Cluster Hubs,
see Chapter 4 (page 43).
NOTE: The BCZ1Z2DIST, BCZ1Z3DIST, and BCZ2Z3DIST BladeCluster inter-zone distance
attributes must be configured via SCF in all nodes connected to a long-haul multi-zone BladeCluster
topology. For more information, refer to “BladeCluster Inter-zone Distance Attributes” (page 63).
The “BladeCluster/6700 Series Solution” (page 15) topology allows NonStop BladeSystems and
NonStop NS16000 series nodes to connect and participate in 6700 series ServerNet clusters
while also connected to a BladeCluster. This interoperability requires that the BladeCluster ServerNet
node numbers connected to 6700 series clusters match the 6700 series ServerNet node number.
If the ServerNet node numbers do not match, an error message and EMS events are generated.
BladeCluster nodes can only be connected to the first ServerNet cluster switches in a 6770/6780
ServerNet cluster as described in:
• “BladeCluster Node Connections to the BladeCluster/6770 Solution” (page 58)
• “BladeCluster Node Connections to the BladeCluster/6780 Solution ” (page 61)

Hardware Requirements for BladeCluster/6700 Series Solution
In addition to the BladeCluster hardware requirements described in the “Hardware Overview”
(page 18), at least two 6700 series cluster switches, one for the X fabric and one for the Y fabric,
are required for the BladeCluster/6700 Series Solution topology. 6770 cluster switches are used
