for the star topologies (star, split-star, and tri-star); 6780 switches are used for the layered topology.
For more information about 6700 series cluster switch hardware requirements or topologies, refer

Software Requirements for BladeCluster/6700 Series Solution
Software requirements for the BladeCluster/6700 Series Solution depend on your BladeCluster
topology:
Applies to...
Software Requirements
1
BladeSystem and NonStop NS16000 series nodes that are
connected to a BladeCluster Solution and 6700 series
ServerNet Cluster.
“Software Requirements for the Current Release of
BladeCluster” (page 22)
A subset of nodes (such as NonStop S-Series, NonStop
BladeSystems, or NonStop NS16000 series) that are only
connected to the 6770 ServerNet cluster fabrics. For these
software requirements, refer to “Related Documentation for
6700 Series ServerNet Clusters” (page 57) following.
6770 ServerNet cluster software requirements
A subset of nodes (such as NonStop S-Series, NonStop
NS14000 series, NonStop NS16000 series, or BladeSystems)
that are only connected to the 6780 ServerNet cluster fabrics.
For these software requirements, refer to “Related
Documentation for 6700 Series ServerNet Clusters” (page 57)
following.

The BladeCluster Solution Base License (T0988H01) is not required in 6770 and 6780 ServerNet clusters that only
connect to 6700 series fabrics.

Configuring a Multi-Zone BladeCluster 6770 Topology
NOTE: This topic only applies to multi-zone configurations using a BladeCluster/6770 Solution
topology.
When configuring a multi-zone BladeCluster/6770 topology, nodes connected to a particular
BladeCluster zone must be assigned the same ServerNet node numbers on both the BladeCluster
and 6770 ServerNet Cluster fabrics:
