BladeCluster Solution Manual
It is possible that certain nodes connected to the 6770 ServerNet Cluster fabrics might not (or
cannot) be connected to the BladeCluster fabrics. For example, consider a BladeCluster/6770
topology with:
• BladeSystems and NS16000 series nodes connected to both the X1 and Y1 6770 ServerNet
cluster switches and BladeCluster zone 1.
• S-series nodes connected to the X2 and Y2 6770 ServerNet cluster switches. S-series nodes
cannot connect directly to the BladeCluster fabrics. Therefore, BladeCluster zone 2 is absent
from the BladeCluster/6770 topology in this example
Every node that is connected to the BladeCluster fabrics in a BladeCluster/6770 topology must
also be connected to the 6770 cluster fabrics. However, as described above, nodes that are
connected to the 6770 cluster fabrics in a BladeCluster/6770 topology might not (or cannot) be
connected to the BladeCluster fabrics in some cases. Therefore, it is possible that certain BladeCluster
zones might be absent from the BladeCluster/6770 topology (in the example above, BladeCluster
zone 2 is absent).

BladeCluster Node Connections to the BladeCluster/6770 Solution
CAUTION: All connections must be done under the guidance of the Add Node to ServerNet
Cluster guided procedure. Wait until the procedure prompts you to make the connections. If you
are adding a node to a BladeCluster/6700 Series Solution, you must make all connections to both
types of clusters before continuing with the procedure. For the connections to the Advanced Cluster
Hubs, see Chapter 4 (page 43).
