BladeCluster Solution Manual
6 Connections to BladeCluster/Multi-Zone Solution
Topologies
CAUTION: All connections must be done under the guidance of the Add Node to ServerNet
Cluster guided procedure. Wait until the procedure prompts you to make the connections to the
anchor nodes.
NOTE: The maximum overall distance between non-anchor nodes in different zones is 125 meters
+ 65 kilometers + 125 meters = 65,250 meters (40.54 miles).
For the BladeCluster/Multi-Zone Solution topologies be sure the appropriate ports for the ServerNet
switch in the anchor node and (DWDM) Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexer (if applicable)
are available. For connection details, refer to your multi-zone topology:
• “BladeCluster Connections for the Short-Haul Multi-Zone Topology (2 Zones)” (page 65)
• “BladeCluster Connections for the Short-Haul Multi-Zone Topology (3 Zones)” (page 66)
• “BladeCluster Connections for the Long-Haul Multi-Zone Topology (2 Zones)” (page 67)
• “BladeCluster Connections for the Long-Haul Multi-Zone Topology (3 Zones)” (page 68)
NOTE: One or two DWDMs are required for each zone that uses the long-haul topology. The
choice of one or two is dependent on the DWDM chosen and the redundancy within that DWDM.
A DWDM configuration should ensure that no single failure will impact the function of both the X
and Y ServerNet fabrics.
BladeCluster Inter-zone Distance Attributes
The BCZ1Z2DIST, BCZ1Z3DIST, and BCZ2Z3DIST BladeCluster inter-zone distance attributes must
be configured via SCF in all nodes connected to a long-haul multi-zone BladeCluster topology.
For more details on these attributes, issue the following commands at a TACL prompt:
SCF HELP SCL ALTER SUBSYS
SCF HELP SCL INFO SUBSYS
To view the BCZ1Z2DIST, BCZ1Z3DIST, and BCZ2Z3DIST BladeCluster inter-zone distance attributes
currently configured for a node, issue this command: SCF INFO SUBSYS $ZZSCL
