BladeCluster Solution Manual

BladeCluster Inter-zone Speed Attributes
The SCF ALTER SUBSYS $ZZSCL and SCF INFO SUBSYS $ZZSCL commands support new
BladeCluster inter-zone speed attributes BCZ1Z2SPEED, BCZ1Z3SPEED, and BCZ2Z3SPEED. These
attributes must be configured via SCF in:
All nodes connected to a long-haul multi-zone BladeCluster topology with interzone distances
greater than 25 km
A multi-zone BladeCluster/6700 Solution cluster (regardless of distance considerations) when
the zones are only connected along the 6700 cluster fabrics
The possible values for these attributes are:
SNET3 (ServerNet 3)
Used for inter-zone distances of up to 25 km. If DWDMs are used in the inter-zone links, then
they must support the ServerNet 3 data rate (DWMDs are not required if the inter-zone distance
does not exceed 125 meters).
SNET2 (ServerNet 2)
Used for inter-zone distances greater than 25 km and less than 50 km, or when ServerNet 2
speeds are needed. Requires DWDMs that support the ServerNet 2 data rate.
TSNET2 (throttled ServerNet 2)
Used for inter-zone distances greater than 50 km and less than 65 km. Requires DWDMs that
support the ServerNet 2 data rate.
NOCONN (BladeCluster zones not connected)
Used for multi-zone BladeCluster/6700 configurations when zones connect only along the
6700 cluster fabrics (as shown in the following illustration). The NOCONN option is supported
starting with the T0294H01 ABG SPR.
For more details on these attributes, issue the following commands at a TACL prompt:
SCF HELP SCL ALTER SUBSYS
SCF HELP SCL INFO SUBSYS
