BladeCluster Solution Manual

8 Changing the BladeCluster Topology
CAUTION: Only authorized service providers can perform the installation and replacement
procedures described in this manual.
This chapter provides procedures to make changes to an already installed BladeCluster topology
and includes these topics:
“OSM Add Node to ServerNet Cluster Action and Guided Procedure” (page 76)
“Performing an RVU Upgrade on a Node” (page 77)
“Removing a Node From a BladeCluster Topology” (page 78)
“Replacing ServerNet Switches in a BladeCluster Topology” (page 79)
“Installing Quad MMF PICs in a Processor Switch for a BladeCluster Topology” (page 79)
OSM Add Node to ServerNet Cluster Action and Guided Procedure
This OSM action:
Brings up the Add Node to ServerNet Cluster guided procedure
Indicates whether or not line-handler processes are configured between the local node and
remote nodes and shows the line states
Allows you to configure and start Expand-over-ServerNet line-handler processes and
Expand-over-ServerNet lines from the local node to all remote nodes
Indicates when to connect the fiber-optic cables between BladeSystem anchor nodes in a
multizone topology.
Indicates when to connect the fiber-optic cables between the node and the X-fabric Advanced
Cluster Hub or Y-fabric Advanced Cluster Hub
CAUTION: Do not connect the fiber-optic cables until the guided procedure instructs you to
do so.
Prompts you to start ServerNet cluster services by placing the ServerNet cluster SUBSYS object
in the STARTED state and collects cluster information
To start the Add Node to ServerNet Cluster action:
NOTE: Make sure you have completed the required planning and installations tasks for adding
a BladeSystem node as described in “Checklist for Required Installation and Migration Tasks
(page 28).
1. From the system console connected to the BladeSystem node you are adding, log on to the
OSM Service Connection.
2. From the tree pane, right-click the System resource, and select Actions. The actions dialog box
