Note: This guide refers to BEA Tuxedo for consistency with the online help. However, on the NonStop
server, the product is NonStop Tuxedo; BEA Tuxedo in the context of this guide actually refers to
NonStop Tuxedo.
The XML filter is a map that filters optional white spaces. This guide refers you to the README for
information about the XML filter.
Adapters are the interfaces to any data source or data target. NonStop DTE provides two standard
adapter types: Messaging Adapters and Utility Adapters. In addition, NonStop DTE provides a way to
create custom adapters for your applications. Part V of this guide describes the adapters.
The following figure shows the where the transformation servers and adapters described in this guide fit
into the NonStop DTE architecture.

Required Background
This document assumes that you have experience in the use of your specific messaging system and
possess a working knowledge of the operating environment. It also assumes that you have used the
Design Studio, are familiar with the Integration Flow Designer, and understand the basic terminology,
such as mapping, type trees, systems, and events, used in those products.
