deleted from the catalog. When GEN is not used for an output tape, the default is
+1.
absolute is a positive number in the range of 1 through 32767.
relative is a negative number in the range of -1 through -32768.
If CATALOG is OFF, GEN is ignored when it is set to anything beside absolute.
LABELS { ANSI | BACKUP | BYPASS | IBM | IBMBACKUP | OMITTED }
specifies the label format or processing mode to be used:
If ANSI, the tape label is in ANSI format. The system is to perform ANSI
standard label processing on the file (labeled tape mode). The default is ANSI.
If BACKUP, the tape label and data are in a special format used by
BACKCOPY, BACKUP, and RESTORE. BACKCOPY is a standard Backup
Restore utility.
If BYPASS, the system does no label processing, nor does it check for a tape
label (bypass label processing mode). Because this keyword also bypasses
DSM/TC, assigned tapes are not protected from being used as scratch tapes,
and cataloged scratch tapes used for output files are not marked assigned in
their catalog entries.
If you specify LABELS BYPASS, you must also use DEVICE and CATALOG
OFF. If you specify LABELS BYPASS, you cannot use the AVRSYSTEM,
COMMENT, EXPIRATION, FILECAT, FILEID, GEN, OWNER, POOL,
RETENTION, USE, VERSION, VOLCAT, BLOCKLEN, RECLEN, RECFORM,
and EBCDIC attributes.
If IBM, the tape label is in IBM-MVS format. The system is to perform IBM
standard label processing on the file (labeled tape mode).
If IBMBACKUP, the tape label is in IBM-MVS format used by BACKCOPY,
BACKUP, and RESTORE.
OMITTED and BACKUP are the only valid values for Backup and Restore 2.0.
If OMITTED, there is no tape label. The system does no label processing
except to check that the tape is not a standard labeled tape. Use this attribute
when requesting a tape file written to an unlabeled tape. If you specify LABELS
OMITTED, you must also use the DEVICE attribute and CATALOG OFF.
If you specify LABELS OMITTED, you cannot specify the A
VRSYSTEM, USE,
VOLUME, OWNER, BLOCKLEN, RECFORM, RECLEN, or EBCDIC attributes.
LOGICAL { 1 | 2 }
identifies which copy of a volume set created from a parallel BACKUP or
BACKCOPY run contains a tape file from which you want to read data. When such
tape volume sets are created, one set is cataloged as logical copy 1 and the other
