Start Completing the Configuration Forms
This information is on the FCSA’s physical label. (See Figure 1-6 on page 1-11.)
2. Record the FCSA’s physical location on your FCSA Configuration Form as
described in Table 2-2.
When an FCSA is installed, it is automatically assigned a name in the configuration
database that is a concatenation of:
The name of the storage subsystem manager ($ZZSTO)
The type of adapter (FCSA)
The IOAM enclosure location (group, module, slot) where the adapter is
installed
For example, the name of the FCSA installed in slot 5 of the group 11 IOAM
enclosure is:
$ZZSTO.#FCSA.GRP-11.MOD-2.SLOT-5
This name is used in SCF STATUS and INFO commands and appears in the
resulting reports of these commands.
3. Record the information for adding disks to the configuration database on your
FCSA configuration form. Because you can have 512 of some of the disk
attributes, extra forms are provided for these attributes in Appendix A, FCSA
Configuration Forms for ESS Connections. Each of these forms provides space for
recording 100 of the various attributes. Print as many as you need for your
configuration.
Table 2-3 describes these attributes. (For a full description of these attributes, see
the SCF Reference Manual for the Storage Subsystem.) You need this information
for the Disk Configuration (ESS Connection) procedure.
Table 2-2. How to Fill in the Location of the FCSA
Field Where to Obtain the Information
Date Enter the date that you are installing the FCSA.
System Name Use the scroll keys on the LCD on the I/O switch in the IOAM to
scroll to the system name.
Group Number Use the scroll keys on the LCD on the I/O switch in the IOAM to
scroll to the group number information of the IOAM.
Module Number Possible module numbers are 2 and 3. For an illustration of the
modules in the IOAM, see Figure 1-2
on page 1-4.
Slot Number Check the slot number on the IOAM enclosure frame. The FCSA
can be installed in slots 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of an IOAM. Because
there are two IOAM logical modules in an IOAM enclosure, a
total of 10 FCSAs can be installed in an enclosure. Figure 1-2
on
page 1-4 shows these slot locations.
