Remove and Relocate the FCSA
Table 4-1. Preparation Checklist
Step Description
1.
For the proper tools, refer to Gather the Proper Tools on page 2-8.
2.
Follow the procedure described in Print the FCSA Forms on page 3-3, but you only
need one form instead of the two indicated in that procedure.
3.
Follow the procedure described in Determine the Physical Location of the FCSA
on page 3-3.
4.
Follow the procedure described in Identify the Devices on page 3-4
5.
Follow the procedure described in Switch the Paths to Another FCSA on page 3-6
6.
Follow the procedure described in Stop the Devices That Are Using the Adapter on
page 3-6

Locate the New Slot:
Find the IOAM group, module, and slot containing the FCSA to be relocated and
the empty slot where you will relocate it. The empty slot contains a double-high
filler pane.
Remove the filler panel from the slot where you are relocating the FCSA. Set
aside the filler panel. You will reinstall the filler panel in the slot left vacant by the
FCSA you move
8.
Change the Labels on the Fibre Channel cables:
a. Remove the existing labels.
b. Follow the procedure described in Label the Fibre Channel Cables
on page 3-6
to label the FC cables with the new location information.
9.
Follow the procedure described in Start Completing the Configuration Forms on
page 2-4 to complete new configuration forms for the relocated FCSA

Note. Whenever you handle an FCSA, follow standard operating practices to avoid damage to
the equipment.
