Managing ServerNet Adapter Firmware
Managing ServerNet Adapter Firmware
FOX and the ServerNet/FX and ServerNet/FX2 adapters are not supported on systems
running H-series.
To see if the ServerNet adapter firmware needs to be updated, navigate down the
OSM tree pane. There are two ServerNet adapters that are supported on H-series and
G-series in the IOAM:
FCSA. The FCSA has two ports that allow connection to external, fibre-channel-
enabled devices. You might need to update these firmware files using either SCF
or OSM.
°
The flash boot firmware (T0630G06) contains version information about the
boot firmware located in the FCSA FLASH memory. The boot firmware runs on
every FCSA after power on and after hardware or firmware errors, and is re-
downloaded to initialize the adapter and to accept downloaded firmware from
the processor.
°
The flash firmware (T0612G06) contains version information about the
operational firmware located in the FCSA FLASH memory. Flash firmware runs
the FCSAs used for system load so that the processor boot millicode can read
the system-load disk.
Note. Before connecting a G-series system to an H-series system, you might have to update
the firmware for both the NonStop S-series Gigabit 4-port ServerNet adapter (G4SA) and Fibre
Channel ServerNet adapter (FCSA). Firmware for both the G4SA and FCSA adapters used for
G-series RVUs is not initially compatible with H-series RVUs. Install the needed SPRs on the
G-series system first. For firmware files and location, see Ta bl e 1 -4
on page 1-18.
