iii
New and Changed Information
This edition has been revised to include the following changes made to SNAX products
in the D40.00 release and G02.00:
Support for V.25 bis modems that can automatically dial or receive calls across the
general switched telephone network
Discontinuance of SNAXLink support
This edition also has been revised to include the following changes made to SNAX
products in the G02.00 release (for Himalaya S-series servers, which use ServerNet
architecture):
Communication with physical lines through the ServerNet wide area network
(SWAN) concentrator (rather than communication controllers)
Use of WAN subsystem profiles for initial configuration (rather than system
generation macros)
Use of the SCF interface to the WAN subsystem for permanent reconfiguration
(rather than Dynamic System Configuration commands)
Use of an SCF interface to EnvoyACP/XF for temporary reconfiguration (rather than
CMI)
SNAX/CDF is not carried forward on G-series releases. Token-Ring connections are not
supported at the G02.00 release but may be supported in later G-series releases.
Appendix B (new) lists the main SNAX product changes between the D40.00 and
G02.00 releases.
Technical changes are indicated by vertical bars to the right of the text.
