Figure 5-3 shows a Tandem application server providing online transaction processing
(OLTP) to 3270 terminals in an SNA subarea network across an SDLC link. This
example uses the extended logon facility of SNAX/APN. The devices can log onto any
Tandem application that uses the CRT or ITI API for communication handling, typically
a Pathway application or TACL process. The Tandem Logon Manager for IBM Systems
(ILOGMGR) in the SNA host forwards the logon request to the Tandem system, where
SNAX Creator-2 software starts the application.
