Tools for Configuration and Management
Tandem SNA products support, to varying degrees, Tandem’s Distributed Systems
Management (DSM) architecture. In DSM:
Resources can be configured and managed interactively using the Subsystem
Control Facility (SCF) or programmatically using the Subsystem Programmatic
Interface (SPI). SCF supersedes the Communications Management Interface (CMI).
Event messages are sent to the Event Management Service (EMS) for filtering and
forwarding.
Trace records are formatted using the PTrace utility.
Table 6-1
shows DSM support and other tools for configuring and managing Tandem
SNA products.
Communications products that support SCF and SPI are managed through a common
intermediate process, the Subsystem Control Point (SCP).
