SPI Applications
SPI Applications
Many existing SPI applications are available from Tandem and third-party sources.
Tandem SPI applications include the following:
DSMS NetStatus. Displays the status of Tandem resources throughout a Tandem
network.
EMS Analyzer. Analyzes event logs and reports on selected events.
DSM/SNAView. Converts Tandem event messages to SNA management flows
(NMVTs) for forwarding to an SNA host and forwards SNA management flows
from SNA devices in the Tandem network. Thus, Tandem resources and SNA
devices in the Tandem network can be managed by NetView or NET/MASTER on
an SNA host.
Management Focal Points
DSM/NonStop Operations for Windows (DSM/NOW) provides a graphical user
interface enabling Microsoft Windows-compatible workstations to act as focal points for
interactive management tools, such as SCF and EMS.
NonStop NET/MASTER also provides a focal point on the Tandem platform for
managing network resources:
NonStop NET/MASTER can be used cooperatively with NET/MASTER or
NetView on an SNA host.
Resources can be managed interactively from an operator console using the
Operator Control Services (OCS) or programmatically using the Network Control
Language (NCL) and Rule Management Service (RMS).
NonStop NET/MASTER can be used to manage all Tandem SNA products.
For K-series servers, the ViewPoint console application also provides a management
focal point on the Tandem platform for products that support SPI.
Other Management Facilities
The following management facilities also exist:
SNAX/XF’s communication network management (CNM) programming interface
provides access to SNA management flows (NMVT and RECFMS status and
statistical information) from SNA devices in the Tandem network.
SNAX Connection Manager (SNAX/CM) software, provided with SNAX/XF,
allows interactive or programmatic management of X.25 SVCs and Token-Ring
connections.
