3. Existing Installation Check – this step checks to see if another version of NonStop I/O Essentials
is already installed. If so, the installer will stop and tell you to uninstall that version first (see
Uninstalling from a Linux CMS).
4. Ready to Install – this step displays a confirmation of the product and version to be installed.
5. HP SIM Check – this step confirms that HP SIM 7.1 or later is installed and running. If a
supported version of HP SIM is not installed, you will be prompted to install it and retry the
installation. If HP SIM is not running, you will be prompted to start it and retry the installation.
6. HP SIM restart – during the installation, HP SIM will be stopped and restarted. If it does not
start within the expected time, the following message will be displayed:
HP SIM does not appear to be starting.
It may be necessary to take manual action to restart HP SIM.
Do you want to continue to wait? (y/n) [n]
Enter y if you wish to continue waiting or n to exit from the installer and resolve the problem.

SIM troubleshooting instructions. If HP SIM cannot be started during NonStop I/O Essentials
installation, the installer process must be restarted, because the installer must perform tasks
after restarting HP SIM.
7. Finish – A log of install tasks and errors will be placed in: /var/log/zsupport/install/install.log.
Installing the Server Component on a NonStop System
To install NonStop I/O Essentials - NonStop Module, product T0839V01^AAA, on NonStop
systems:
1. Insert the T0839 installation disk in a CD drive on the CMS.
2. In the initial dialog box, click Run IPSetup.
3. Click Next in the Welcome dialog, accept the Software License Agreement, then click Next
again to install the server component.
4. Start either the NonStop Software Essentials interface or the DSM/SCM Planner Interface.
5. Receive T0839V01 into the DSM/SCM software archive.
6. Create a new software revision for your target system (cloning can be used to install to multiple
target systems simultaneously).
7. Copy-to T0839V01 into the new revision.
8. Perform a Build/Apply.
