1 Introduction to NonStop I/O Essentials
The NonStop I/O Essentials product is an HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM) plug-in that virtualizes
the configuration and control of all CIP (Cluster I/O Protocols) tasks by providing a graphical user
interface alternative to the command line interfaces of the climcmd tool and SCF.
The major benefits of using NonStop I/O Essentials include:
• Ability to perform all CIP management tasks without knowing the syntax of NonStop commands.
• Ability to perform CIP management tasks on multiple targets (CLIMs, disks, tapes, etc.) in
parallel.
• Default (out-of-box) management tasks shipped to configure and control all aspects of CIP.
• Secure and encrypted communication between console and NonStop systems. All of the data
in motion between console and NonStop Blade Systems is encrypted over SSH (Secure Shell).
• Ability to manage all aspects of the CIP subsystem remotely via a web-browser.
• Can be used together with NonStop Cluster Essentials 2.0 or later to extend NonStop system
management functionality.
• Supports volume level encryption.
• Supports Telco CLIMs and INS management on SS7 network.
