System-Up Dedicated Maintenance LAN

One possible fault-tolerant configuration is a pair of G4SAs (each in a different IOAM

module) with a maintenance LAN connected to the A port on each G4SA. The B port is

then available to support the SWAN LAN.

System-Up Dedicated Maintenance LAN

When the system is up and the OS running, the ME connects to the NonStop

NS-series system’s dedicated maintenance LAN using one of the PIFs on each of two

G4SA adapters. This connection enables OSM Service Connection and OSM

Notification Director communication for maintenance in a running system.

For fault-tolerant dedicated maintenance LAN, two G4SAs are required with one

connected to each ServerNet fabric, X and Y. These G4SA can reside in modules 2

and 3 of the same I/O adapter module (IOAM) enclosure or in module 2 of one IOAME

and module 3 of a second IOAM enclosure. When the G4SA provides connection to

the dedicated maintenance LAN, use the slower 10/100 Mbps PIF A rather than one of

the high-speed 1000 Mbps Ethernet ports of PIF C or D.

If NonStop S-series I/O enclosures are connected to the system, one G4SA can reside

in either module 2 or 3 of an IOAM enclosure and in a NonStop S-series EtherNet

adapter (such as an E4SA, FESA, or GESA) in either slot 53 or 54 of the NonStop

S-series I/O enclosure. When installing EtherNet adapters for the dedicated

maintenance LAN in an Integrity NonStop NS-series IOAM enclosure and in a NonStop

S-series I/O enclosure, it is important that each EtherNet adapter connect to the X and

Y ServerNet. For information about the NonStop S-Series I/O enclosure and the

Maintenance LAN Links With One IOAM Enclosure
