Site Preparation Walk-Through
Site Preparation Walk-Through
This subsection introduces the site appraisal form that can used by HP account teams
and professional service delivery consultants. This example form is a guide to collect
data and identify areas of concern that can have an effect on installation, supportability,
or operational reliability of new or relocated equipment.
The information obtained might also be included with other service offerings that will
help when improving existing data centers or when building new facilities that are
intended to house Integrity NonStop NS-series systems.
This Site Preparation Walk-Through covers many computing environment
characteristics such as floor loading, power, accessibility, and cooling to ensure that
the equipment is installed and operates properly.
The Walk-Through includes an appraisal of the existing environment, which can
include some or all these items:
•
Room size
•
Flooring and access
•
Fire detection and suppression
•
Electrical static, grounding, power
•
Surge protection and backup
•
Interference (RMI, EMI, and so on.)
•
Air Conditioning
•
Ongoing environmental monitoring
•
Maintenance practices and equipment conditioning
When the walk-through is completed, its results are used to determine the suitability of
the data center for its intended use and identify actions or improvements (risks items)
that might be required to upgrade the center to meet the required minimal standard.
Additional Statement of Work services might result from this review to address areas of
concern or risk that were identified.
