Migration Considerations
Migration Considerations
SQL/MP objects that are present on disks installed in a NonStop S-series I/O
enclosure are not immediately usable after the enclosure is connected to an
Integrity NonStop NS-Series system. The file labels and catalogs must be updated
to reflect the new system name and number. You can use the SQLCI MODIFY
command to update SQL/MP objects. Refer to the migration information contained
in the SQL Supplement for H-Series RVUs.
G-series application programs that reside on a NonStop S-series I/O enclosure
might require migration changes to run on an Integrity NonStop NS-series system
with an H-series RVU. For more information, refer to the H-Series Application
Migration Guide.
If you are moving a NonStop S-series I/O enclosure from a NonStop S-series
system to an Integrity NonStop NS-series system and want to migrate the data
online, you can perform a migratory revive if:
°
Your data is mirrored.
°
You have another NonStop S-series system or NonStop S-series I/O enclosure
connected to the NonStop S-series system.
As an overview, the necessary processes include:
°
Create a mirror of the data on the NonStop S-series I/O enclosure that is
moving to the Integrity NonStop NS-series system.
°
Disconnect the NonStop S-series I/O enclosure from the NonStop S-series
system and connect it to the Integrity NonStop NS-series system.
°
Change the mirror on the Integrity NonStop NS-series system to be the primary
disk.
°
Revive that primary disk with a mirror so that the Integrity NonStop NS-series
system contains both the primary and the mirror.
