I/O Adapter Module (IOAM) Enclosure and I/O Adapters
An IOAM provides Integrity NonStop NS-series with its system I/O using Gigabit 4-port
Ethernet ServerNet adapters (G4SAs) for LAN connectivity and Fibre Channel
ServerNet adapters (FCSAs) for storage connectivity.
IOAM Enclosure
An IOAM enclosure is 11U high with each enclosure containing:
•
Four power supplies with dual AC input
•
Four fans provide front-to-rear cooling
•
Two ServerNet switch boards (for the X fabric and Y fabric) for ServerNet routing to
the ServerNet adapters in the IOAM enclosure. These boards also have
maintenance entity (ME) logic and firmware, maintenance connection (Ethernet),
and an LCD display for:
°
IP address
°
Group-module-slot
°
Cabinet name and offset
°
ME firmware revision
°
Floating point gate array (FPGA) firmware revision
•
Up to ten dual-ported (X and Y ServerNet fabrics) ServerNet Adapters.
°
FCSAs to Fibre Channel disks, tape devices, or Enterprise Storage System
(ESS)
°
G4SAs for 10/100/1000 and 10/100 Ethernet connectivity to local and wide
area networks
The four power supplies do not support the entire IOAM enclosure. Instead, two power
supplies support each of the enclosure’s two modules. For each module to operate, at
least one power supply in each module must be operational. For fault tolerance, you
must connect the power supplies in each module to separate power distribution units
(PDUs). For example, the power supplies in (2, 15) and (2, 18) cannot both be plugged
into the left PDU.
The dual IOAM modules in each IOAM enclosure promote fault-tolerant configuration
and servicing:
•
Redundant hardware provides fault tolerance if it is divided between modules.
•
Fault-tolerant paths must be configured through different modules.
Caution. To maintain proper cooling air flow, blank panels must be installed in all slots that do
not contain ServerNet adapters.
