I/O Adapter Module (IOAM) Enclosure and I/O
Adapters
FCSAs are installed in pairs and can reside in slots 1 through 5 of either IOAM (module
2 or 3) in an IOAM enclosure. The pairs can be installed one each in the two IOAM
modules in the same IOAM enclosure, or the pair can be installed one each in different
IOAM enclosures. The FCSA allows either a direct connection to an Enterprise Storage
System (ESS) or connection through a storage area network.
For detailed information on the FCSA, see the Fibre Channel ServerNet Adapter
Installation and Support Guide.
Gigabit Ethernet 4-Port ServerNet Adapter
The Gigabit Ethernet 4-port ServerNet adapter (G4SA) provides gigabit connectivity to
Ethernet LANs. G4SAs can reside in slots 1 through 5 of each IOAM module.
A combination of copper and fiber-optic interfaces are supported on the six ports of the
G4SA, although only four of these ports can be in use at any one time.
A G4SA can be configured as:
•
Two 10/100/1000 Mbps copper ports and two 10/100 Mbps copper ports
•
Two 10/100/1000 Mbps multimode fiber-optic ports and two 10/100 Mbps copper
ports
A G4SA complies with the 1000 Base-T standard (802.3ab),1000 Base-SX standard
(802.3z), and these Ethernet LANs:
•
802.3 (10 Base-T)
•
802.1Q (VLAN tag-aware switch)
•
802.3u (Auto negotiate)
