Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
A large number of enclosure combinations are possible within the modular cabinets
that make up an Integrity NonStop NS-series server. The applications and purpose of
any NonStop-NS series server determine the number and combinations of the
enclosures and modular cabinets.
Because of the large number of possible configurations, you calculate the total power
consumption, heat dissipation, and weight of each modular cabinet based on the
hardware configuration that you order from HP.

enclosures, see Section 3, Specifications for Integrity NonStop NS-Series Servers.

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
Unlike NonStop S-series system and I/O enclosures, modular cabinets do not have
built-in batteries to provide power during power failures. You can order an optional HP
R5500 XR UPS for each modular cabinet to supply the enclosures within that cabinet.
If your applications require a UPS that supports the entire system or even a UPS or
motor generator for all computer and support equipment in the site, you must plan the
site’s electrical infrastructure accordingly.
System I/O Hardware Configuration
I/O connectivity between Integrity NonStop NS-series servers and NonStop S-series
server equipment can be mixed within the same system using:

IOAM enclosures
•
NonStop S-series I/O enclosures
Although either of these enclosure types can be a part of either a NonStop S-series
system or an Integrity NonStop NS-series system, the same enclosure can not exist in
multiple systems simultaneously.
IOAM Enclosure
The IOAM enclosure is part of the modular Integrity NonStop NS-series hardware and
uses Fibre Channel and gigabit Ethernet adapters for I/O connectivity. An I/O system
that can also include connection to internal or external disks, the IOAM enclosure can
be connected to and provide I/O functions for either Integrity NonStop NS-series or
NonStop S-series servers. For connectivity to NonStop S-series servers, see the
