Modular Cabinet Power and I/O Cable Entry
Power and I/O cables can enter the Integrity NonStop NS-series server from either the
top or the bottom rear of the modular cabinets, depending on how the cabinets are
ordered from HP and the routing of the AC power feeds at the site. Integrity NonStop
NS-series server cabinets can be ordered with the PDU junction boxes installed either:
•
Top, rear: Power and I/O cables routed from above the modular cabinet.
•
Bottom, rear: Power and I/O cables routed from below the modular cabinet
Emergency Power-Off Switches
Emergency Power Off (EPO) switches are required by local codes or other applicable
regulations when computer equipment contains batteries capable of supplying more
than 750 volt-amperes (VA) for more that five minutes. Systems that have these
batteries also have internal EPO hardware for connection to a site EPO switch or relay.
In an emergency, activating the EPO switch or relay removes power from all electrical
equipment in the computer room (except that used for lighting and fire-related sensors
and alarms).
EPO Requirement for Integrity NonStop NS-Series Servers
Integrity NonStop NS-series servers without the optional HP 5500 XR UPS installed in
each modular cabinet do not contain batteries capable of supplying more than 750 volt-
amperes (VA) for more that five minutes, so they do not require connection to a site
EPO switch.
EPO Requirement for HP 5500 XP UPS
The rack-mounted HP 5500 XR UPS that can be optionally installed in a modular
cabinet contains batteries and has an EPO circuit. Consult your HP site preparation
specialist or electrical engineer regarding requirements for site EPO switches or relays.
If an EPO switch or relay contactor is required for your site, contact your HP
representation or refer to the HP UPS R5500 XR User Guide, HP part number 351643
for connector and wiring. This guide is available at:

EPO Requirement for NonStop S-Series I/O Enclosure
Each NonStop S-series I/O enclosure contains batteries and an EPO circuit. If an EPO
switch or relay contactor is required for your site, contact your HP representation or
refer to the NonStop S-Series Hardware Installation and FastPath Guide for connector
and wiring information. This guide is an IPDS Publication and is available on the
NonStop Technical Library (NTL).
