Dedicated Service LAN
This subsection includes:
An Integrity NonStop NS1000 system requires a dedicated LAN for system
maintenance through OSM. Only components specified by HP can be connected to a
dedicated LAN. No other access to the LAN is permitted. The dedicated service LAN
provides connectivity between the OSM console running on a PC and the maintenance
firmware in the system hardware.
A basic dedicated service LAN that does not provide a fault-tolerant configuration
requires connection of these components to the ProCurve 2524 maintenance switch
installed in the modular cabinet:
One connection for each system console running OSM.
Two connections for the IOAM enclosure.
At least two connections to Gigabit Ethernet 4-port ServerNet adapters (G4SA)
installed in an IOAM enclosure.
You can configure the dedicated service LAN as described in the
OSM Migration
Guide
. HP recommends that you use a fault-tolerant LAN configuration. A fault-tolerant
configuration includes these connections to two maintenance switches:
Connect one system console to each maintenance switch.
Connect one of the two ServerNet switch boards in the IOAM enclosure to each
maintenance switch.
